Health Care pushes forward!

I know many of you are not all that interested in health care reform, being you're probably young and healthy, but it is important for those that have to fight for those that don't have and can't fight for themselves!!

Senate Health Care Vote on Huffington Post

I am one of the lucky ones.  I have one of those "Cadillac plans" some say should be taxed to help pay for those who have no insurance.  Many Dems think taxing those plans are bad because it will hit middle-income people like union workers who are fotunate enough to have good plans.  I agree with that - I think over-taxing middle income workers extra is never a good plan because they are one of the groups the economy needs to continue spending!!  Why in the hell can't we add 1-2% tax for people making over $250k?  I mean seriously?  If you make $254,000, that means you will only pay an extra 1-2% on the $4,000 you make OVER the $250k!  How is that unfair??  Good greif!  You really think someone is making $250k and cannot afford paying a few extra hundred bucks a year???  Get over it!  "But if those people can' be allowed to keep more of their money, how will they open a business which can provide jobs??"  Yea, you can't even open a Mary Kay biz with a few hundred bucks these days!

I just hate this whole "socialist" "resdistribution of wealth" garbage talk!  We ALREADY live in a semi-socialist society - have been for hundreds of years!!  None of your Repubs and most of you Libertarians did not complain about paying for the police and fire departments before!!!  Health care is like that - it should just be something we all pitch in for and everyone receives it.  Now, if you are fortunate to have money and believe the police can't protect you as much as you'd like, you are free to spend as much extra as you like to pay for security teams/guards to protect you.  You wouldn't get a voucher to recover the amount of taxes you pay to the police!!!!!!!!  And if something happened, the police would be there for you - even though you had a security guard.

People need health care in that same guarenteed way.  How on earth can anyone feel good about 40k+ people dying each year simply because they lack health insurance???  People should never have to file bankruptcy or lose their home because of medical bills.  And NO WAY is America the place where if you are lucky enough to be rich, THEN you can live!!  It is bad enough our education system is soo skewed in favor of the wealthy; it is un American and inhumane to allow survival of the fittest to be survival of the wealthiest!

Regardless of your views on what size of government is right - do not tell me ANYTHING the republicans have suggested is at all acceptable??  Yes, I am all for single payer,  but I am not completely against letting the insurance companies contiune doing the work of providing coverage to Americans.  They just need to know 31% of every dollar should NOT go to salaries and advertising!!  It should NOT be ok to raise premiums by 12%/yr when costs have only gone up by 3% in the same year!  That is why their profits are so obscene to the majority of us - we are not against companies making a profit, but if your profit is based on how many people (who many have been paying their premiums for years) are denied life-saving care and treatment then you should NOT be allowed to make a profit!  Yes, I am all for removing profit from the health care industry!!  But in lieu of that, it should at least be regulated in a way that does not allow the companies to increase premiums solely to give higher salaries to their executives.

This is why I worked so hard to get President Obama elected - health care!  But, they need to get this done because there are so many other important issues they need to work on that are being pushed to the side (DOMA, DADT, GITMO, Iraq/Iran/Afghanstn, investing in Green Tech, Jobs, Economy - all of that is waiting for this health care to pass!!  Now just DO IT!!
